This notice describes the information used by GiftTrait to provide gift suggestions, wishlists, and exchanges.
Information you provide
When you create an account, GiftTrait uses your email for authentication and account messages. You may add a display name and avatar, quiz answers, interests, gift ideas, notes, preferences, and information about people you shop for. Exchanges may include invitations, assignments, meeting links, and shipping information when you choose to provide it. Support requests contain the message you submit and your account identity.
How it is used
GiftTrait uses this information to calculate and refine gift preferences, save your lists, organize exchanges, send account and exchange messages, respond to support requests, and maintain the service. Operational records and aggregate reports help identify errors, understand product usage, and improve recommendations.
Who can see it
Your account lists and estimated recipient profiles are private until you use sharing or exchange features. Your display name, avatar, and email are visible to people in your exchanges. Exchange features may also show participants your GiftTrait and the wishlist items you share. Assignments, mystery gifts, and shipping information are exposed according to the exchange’s role and stage.
Anyone with a sharing link can view the information included in that link and may forward or copy it. Turning off a link prevents future access through that link; it cannot remove copies someone already made. Invited quiz participants review their sharing choice before submitting.
Authorized operators can access information needed for support and service administration. Amazon Web Services provides hosting, authentication, and data storage. Retailers and optional meeting or address services receive information needed when you use their features and have their own privacy practices.
Browser storage and external links
GiftTrait uses cookies and browser storage for sign-in, remembered email addresses, quiz progress, guest results, and app preferences. Guest quiz answers are sent to the service to calculate a result; the result and unfinished progress may be kept on your device. Clearing site data removes those local copies and may sign you out. Retailer links can include an affiliate identifier. Visiting a retailer is subject to that retailer’s policies.
Your choices and data requests
You can edit profile information, remove saved gifts, and manage sharing links in the app. For access, corrections, or account and data deletion, send a private request. Requests are reviewed manually; submitting one does not immediately delete your account. We may need to verify ownership and clarify how a request affects shared exchanges.
Account information remains stored until removed through the available controls or a completed data request. Operational logs and backups can persist beyond removal from the active service. Information already shared with other participants may remain in their copies.
